Architecture of cultural perpetuity: Post Pandemic- CSR Opportunities and Shifting Perspectives

One of the pre-dominant economic trade-mark of the 21st century is the incorporation of Corporate social responsibility (CSR) and ‘people, place and planet’ driven initiatives. As an architect we hold the key to drive these funds intosocial architecture projects and have a clear positive outcome to our built projects.

My own company,MAP Architects, a homegrown Indian firm, or as I choose to say “Bharat Ka Apna”applies its core expertise its surrounding through project work to change perspectives on CSR projects incorporating the traditional values of the community, being sensitive to the culture of the region as a core philosophy in each and every project.

Included in these projects are rural and communal spaces, heritage cities, zero-waste construction, up-cycling, recycling trying to achieve: reduction in carbon footprints, volunteering in the community and socially and environmentally conscious investments.

As the ‘economic ecosystem ‘ re- aligns and re-invention of culture is necessary to survive we can look forward to more innovation and re- engineering of how manufacturing, construction and investment is done.

Altogether many of these initiatives will struggle when it comes to scalability of its scope, or application of the same schemes, and operations suffer because of contextual problems. There is a need to call for cultural perpetuity as a revolutionto move the conversation away from isolated and marketable CSR projects to actual community engagement and cultural advancement. The fundamentals of environmentally sustainable construction and solutions tailored to, contextual site-project-people which is value- engineeredand optimized to positive business and social value, no doubt. Lets take it a step further with culture-centric projects.

Intended with establishing the branding of everything “Bharat Ka Apna”and investmenting in the potential of CULTURAL PERPETUITY specially to bring positive community engagement needs to be proven as financiallyviable. Also as animprovement in brand image and marketability of built projects. The impact of CSR activities has changed attitudes and behavioral intentions. The incorporation of cultural perpetuityas not justtrue altruistic activity but good for business will make all of Indian economy robust, inclusive, effective, strategic and will eventually become the best practices for key performance indexes.

The sight is set to promote “Bharat Ka Apna”and responsible cultural decision-making in the AEC industry already. Now we need to make it known to all. This revolution though a daunting task needs to be consumed as bite sized behavioral and attitude changes daily.

If today you decide to dwell on, read or share about Culture. Ou have done your bit to contribute to cultural perpetuity,
